The Case of the Football Shirts

I arrived at the shop this morning expecting a relatively normal day.
This expectation proved inaccurate.
At approximately 10:12,
a customer entered Rua Rua Panda wearing a bright red football shirt.
No immediate concern was raised.
People wear football shirts.
This is a known behaviour.

However,
by 11:00,
four additional football shirts had been observed.
Different colours.
Different countries.
The same general enthusiasm.
The situation appeared to be developing.
By lunchtime,
multiple groups of visitors were discussing fixtures,
group stages,
and something called goal difference.
The conversations were detailed.
The confidence levels were high.
Evidence sources were unclear.
Outside the shop,
further clues emerged.
The pub across the street had acquired several flags.

By the afternoon,
it had acquired considerably more flags.
Additional television screens also appeared.
This suggests preparation.
For what remains obvious to everyone except me.
At 14:47,
I overheard a customer announce that football was "coming home."
No address was provided.
Meanwhile,
inside Rua Rua Panda,
operations continued as usual.
Families continued searching for the perfect panda.
Tourists continued discovering London souvenirs.
Several plush pandas were successfully adopted before closing time.
One customer attempted to explain the offside rule while choosing a keyring.
The explanation lasted longer than the purchase.
The mystery remains unresolved.
However,
all available evidence suggests that the World Cup is approaching.
The shirts.
The flags.
The increasingly emotional discussions between complete strangers.
The clues all point in the same direction.
Further investigation will continue.
Should additional football-related behaviour be observed,
it will be documented accordingly.
