Britain's Unexpected Heatwave

This morning,
I opened the shop as usual.
Everything appeared normal.
The pandas were in position.
The shelves were tidy.
Then I stepped outside.
It was...
hot.
Suspiciously hot.
Britain is generally known for rain.
Not sunshine.
Certainly not the sort of weather that makes a panda question his own fur.
Further investigation became necessary.
At approximately 10:36,
I discovered our newest arrival.
A Handheld USB Rechargeable Fan.
Small.
Portable.
Surprisingly powerful.
It has accompanied me ever since.

Every patrol.
Every customer greeting.
Every five-minute break pretending to "inspect the front window."
Purely professional, of course.
Without it,
this investigation might have ended rather differently.
By lunchtime,
temperatures had continued to rise.
The streets around Westminster were unusually lively.
Even Big Ben looked warm.
I purchased an ice-cold bottle of cola.
An entirely reasonable decision.
There was, however,
one small problem.
No bottle opener.
Fortunately,
the shop had recently received a Panda Design Bottle Opener.
Case solved.
One gentle lift.
Pop.
Cold cola achieved.
Several people walking past stopped to ask where I had found such a cheerful little opener.
One gentleman described it as,
"the cutest bottle opener I've ever seen."
I made a note accordingly.
Back at headquarters,
I reached another conclusion.
There comes a point
when maintaining detective elegance
must give way
to staying cool.
The detective cap was removed.
Dignity remained intact.
My fur, however,
required immediate attention.
Thankfully,
our new Panda Hair Scrunchies proved remarkably effective.
A quick tie.
Instant relief.

I may even admit...
they looked rather smart.
No witnesses were present.
